Toward a Modern Buddhist Hagiography: Telling the Life of Hsing Yun in Popular Media

I’m happy to share that my humble article “Toward a Modern Buddhist Hagiography: Telling the Life of Hsing Yun in Popular Media” has just been published in Asian Ethnology.

The idea for this paper was inspired by the wonderful students of the Buddhism in Asia Global Programme 2009 (http://www.usp.nus.edu.sg/community-life/2009/bia2009.html). I had the good fortune of co-teaching this course with the late Pattana Kitiarsa. He was a wonderful teacher, colleague, and friend who taught me so much. I regret that he did not live to see it in print. This article is dedicated to his memory.
